1. Drew Peterson was born on January 6, 1954.
2. In 1972, Drew Peterson graduated from Willowbrook High School in Villa Park, Illinois. After graduation, he joined the United States Army and was trained as a military police officer. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1976.
3. In 1977, Drew Peterson joined the Bolingbrook, Illinois Police Department, where he remained employed until 2006, when he retired. He presently draws retirement benefits from Bolingbrook. Note: Retired in 2007.
4. During his employment with the Bolingbrook Police Department, Drew Peterson advanced to the status of Sergeant.
5. In 1978, Drew Peterson was assigned to the Metropolitan Narcotics Squad.
6. In 1979, Drew Peterson was named "Policeman of the Year" by the Bolingbrook Police Department.
7. Drew Peterson has been married 4 times.
8. From 1974 to 1980, Drew Peterson was married to Carol Brown, his high school sweetheart. He had 2 children with Carol.
9. From 1982 to 1992, Drew Peterson was married to Victoria Connolly. There were unproven and unreported allegations of harassment and abuse.
10. From 1992 to October 2003, Drew Peterson was married to Kathleen Savio (born June 13, 1963). He had 2 children, Thomas, 14, born August 8, 1994 and Kristopher, 16, born January 5, 1993 with Savio.
11. From October 2003 to the present, Drew Peterson was married to Stacy Cales (born January 20, 1984.) Peterson and Cales had 2 children, now ages 4 and 5. At the time of her disappearance, Stacy was a pre-nursing student at Joliet Junior College and was taking a course.
12. On March 2, 1997, Drew Peterson handwrote a Will that was signed by Kathleen Savio. The Will was first produced by Peterson after Savio's death. The Will was admitted to probate. The Estate of Savio remains open.
13. The Will provided that, in death, all assets would go to the surviving spouses. The Will appointed Drew Peterson's uncle, James Carroll as Executor and was witnessed by 2 co-workers/friends of Drew Peterson.
14. All proceeds from the Estate were given to Drew Peterson. The Peterson/Savio children received the insurance money from Kathleen Savio's death.
15. A court-appointed public administrator later wrote that James Carroll's actions "were not in the best interests of the Estate or its beneficiaries."
16. In October 2001, Kathleen Savio became aware that Drew Peterson was having an extramarital relationship with Stacy Cales. Peterson filed for divorce on March 13, 2002. Savio filed a counterpetition on March 14, 2002.
17. In the divorce, Kathleen Savio sought sole custody, child support, maintenance, and division of the marital assets.
18. Shortly after the parties filed for divorce, the parties fought over personal property. In May 2002, as she was leaving her home for church, Kathleen Savio discovered that her car was missing. Drew Peterson called Savio to tell her that, if she did not let him in the house to retrieve his waterbed and other belongings, "she wouldn't be able to find" her car.
19. Between 2002 and 2004, police were called to the Peterson house 18 times on domestic disturbance calls, including calls for returning children late after visitation. None of these calls resulted in criminal charges.
20. Drew Peterson and Kathleen Savio were known as fighters.
21. Nine of the 18 domestic calls were by Kathleen Savio and concerned visitation issues with Drew Peterson. Bolingbrook police made no arrests as a result of these calls.
22. The remaining calls concerned loud arguments between the two.
23. There were 3 instances where domestic violence calls were made on the allegation that Kathleen Savio struck Stacy Cales. During these instances, Drew Peterson called Savio fat, a bitch, and a whore. In one instance, Cales was recording with a home video camera that belonged to Savio and Peterson. Savio and Cales had words. Peterson--exercising his police powers--restrained and arrested Savio because she threatened to attack Cales. Peterson pushed Savio to the ground, kneeled on her neck, and called the police.
24. In 2002, Kathleen Savio obtained an order of protection against Drew Peterson who was barred from entering the family home. In the application for the order of protection, Kathleen Savio swore that Drew Peterson beat her and threatened to kill her. She repeated these statements many times until her death. In a letter written just before her death, she stated that, if she is found dead, Peterson killed her.
25. When the order of protection came to hearing, Kathleen Savio and Drew Peterson agreed to dismiss it and to enter into a mutual restraining order with Savio having exclusive possession of the family home.
26. On October 10, 2003, a judgment of divorce was entered in the Peterson marriage. However, in an unusual legal maneuver agreed by both parties, the issue of the distribution of marital assets between the parties was not decided and was set for a contested hearing on January 12, 2004. This is called bifurcation. It was finally set for hearing on April 6, 2004.
27. The October 10 judgment granted custody of the minor children to Kathleen Savio. Child support and maintenance were reserved for later determination.
28. On approximately February 23, 2004, Kathleen Savio's divorce attorneys served Drew Peterson with a notice to take his deposition.
29. On February 27, 2004, Drew Peterson and Stacy Cales picked up his minor sons, Tom and Kris, for weekend visitation. Peterson, Tom, and Kris say that there were together the entire weekend. On February 29, they went to the Shedd Aquarium with Cales and the younger children.
30. On February 29, 2004, Drew Peterson returned the children to Kathleen Savio. She did not answer the door to her home. Peterson and his family returned to his home.
31. On March 1, 2004, Drew Peterson left telephone messages for Kathleen Savio and went to her house. When she did not answer the door, Peterson contacted a neighbor who called a locksmith.
32. Drew Peterson and the neighbor entered Kathleen Savio's house. The neighbor searched the house and found Savio in her bath tub face down. The bathtub was 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet.
33. There was no water in the tub. Savio's hair was wet and drenched in blood from a head laceration. The neighbor screamed. Peterson entered the bathroom, took Savio's pulse, and determined that she is dead. Her lungs contained water. Her body had a number of bruises, scrapes, and contusions, including a 1 inch laceration on the left side of the back of her head.
34. The estimated time of Kathleen Savio's death was early Sunday morning, February 29, 2004.
37. There was no evidence of forced entry. There was no indication of any property taken. The doors to the house were locked.
38. There was no blood anywhere else in the house.
39. There is no forensic evidence that Drew Peterson was involved in Kathleen Savio's death.
40. Kathleen Savio's boyfriend had a key to her home. Drew Peterson did not have a key.
41. Drew Peterson previously was a co-owner of the residence. After Kathleen Savio took sole possession of the residence, Drew Peterson had gained entry to the residence, uninvited, by various means, including using a garage door opener and, on one occasion, cutting out a portion of wall and crawling through the opening into the residence.
42. On April 8, 2004, a "Judgment for Dissolution for Marriage" was entered in Peterson v. Peterson, 02 D 420.
43. The Judgment stated that:
-Drew Peterson was awarded the business Blue Lightning Corporation
-All proceeds from the sale of the marital home would go to Peterson
-Peterson was not obligated to pay for any college expenses for the minor children of the parties because her life insurance for $1,000,000 was payable to the children.
-The judgment transferred from $144,117.65 to $288,235.31 from the 4 Peterson/Savio children.
44. The Savio family immediately claimed that Drew Peterson killed Kathleen Savio. They have continued to make public and private statements to that effect. They hired a New York attorney for the specific purpose of pressuring Will County authorities to charge Peterson with the death. They also encouraged Fox News to hire a private forensic specialist to reinterpret the autopsy materials and report.
45. The Savio family excluded Drew Peterson's name from the public announcement of Kathleen Savio's death.
46. Drew Peterson paid Kathleen Savio's funeral expenses and attended services for her.
47. Drew Peterson did not attend a reception for family and friends afterwards. His children with Kathleen Savio moved into his house. The following day, Peterson took a moving truck to Savio's home and removed his children's belongings.
48. Drew Peterson married Stacy Cales on October 18, 2003.
49. Between the time of the divorce in October 2003 and March 2004, Drew Peterson entered Kathleen Savio's home at least twice without permission.
50. Stacy Cales came from a troubled family. Her father left the family when she was very young. On March 11, 1998, Cales' mother disappeared and has not been heard from since that time.
51. Stacy Cales was an attractive woman. She regularly dressed in a provocative way. She flirted with men and received considerable attention from men. She wanted to be a stripper. After her disappearance, police found a text message on her telephone that stated: "hottest little bitch in the world. thanks for riding me like a bucking bronco last night." Cales' voice mail on her cell phone contained lewd comments about having an affair.
52. While he was married to Kathleen Savio, Stacy Cales had an affair with Drew Peterson and became pregnant with their child. The affair started when she was 16.
53. In August 2007, Stacy Cales met with her pastor, Neil Schori, at a Bolingbrook coffee shop. Drew Peterson accused Cales of having a big crush on Schori and getting "dolled up" and "sexed up" when she went to see him. She told Schori that Drew Peterson killed Kathleen Savio. Schori did not report this conversation to the police. He told Cales to go home, to try to patch things up, and to pray.
54. At the August 2007 meeting, Stacy Cales told Rev. Schori that:
--during the night of February 28, 2004, she awoke and found that Peterson was gone. She checked the house and could not find him.
--in the early morning hours of February 29, 2004, she saw Peterson standing in front of the washing machine, dressed in black and holding a bag. Peterson removed his clothes and put them in the wash and emptied the contents of the bag he was holding, which appeared to be women's clothing, into the washer.
--Peterson told her that he killed Kathleen Savio, that he hit her on the back of the head, and that he made her death look like an accident.
55. In early October 2007, Stacy Cales called Scott Rossetto, whose twin brother she dated 6 years earlier. Cales and Rossetto talked or emailed every other day. Rossetto said that Cales told him that she wanted to end her marriage with Drew Peterson and that she felt trapped. Rossetto admitted that the emails between them were "flirty" but denied having an affair.
56. Ten days before Stacy Cales disappeared, Drew Peterson accessed the Bolingbrook police department's computers for public and confidential information about Scott Rossetto. Around the same time, Peterson confronted Rossetto and Cales while they were meeting at Denny's. Peterson was in his police uniform. He walked into Denny's and sat at their table without an invitation. Peterson asked Rossetto how he would react if his wife were with another man.
57. In the last 10 days of October 2007, Stacy Cales told her family that she was about to leave Drew Peterson and to file for divorce and that she told Peterson about her intentions.
58. In the days preceding October 28, 2007, Drew Peterson made dozens of telephone calls to Stacy Cales.
59. Stacy Cales disappeared on October 28, 2007.
60. On October 28, 2007, Drew Peterson's stepbrother, Thomas Murphy, helped him move a blue barrel out of the Peterson home and into Peterson's SUV. Murphy described the barrel as feeling warm and weighing about 120 lbs. Murphy said that Peterson paid him to help him with the move.
61. Thomas Murphy has had a history of drug and alcohol abuse. After helping Drew Peterson move the barrel, Murphy attempted to kill himself by an overdose of pills.
62. There is no forensic evidence supporting Thomas Murphy's testimony.
63. After Stacy Cales' disappearance, Drew Peterson made public statements that she told him that she ran off with another man.
64. After Stacy Cales' disappearance, there was a massive search for her throughout northern Illinois. Drew Peterson did not participate in or support the search because he said that she ran off with another man.
65. Drew Peterson became a media sensation, talking to many commentators, including Greta Van Sustern, Geraldo Rivera, and Matt Lauer. He was featured on the front cover of People Magazine. He regularly went to New York for fully-paid television appearances. He also made many radio appearances. During these appearances, Drew Peterson repeatedly denied that he was involved in Kathleen Savio's death or Stacy Cales' disappearance. He was nonchalant, flippant, and (considering that these women were the mothers of his children) inappropriate.
66. Drew Peterson resigned from the Bolingbrook Police Department and was granted a $6,067 monthly pension.
67. On April 21, 2009, the family of Kathleen Savio filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Peterson seeking in excess of $100,000. The lawsuit also names as a defendant James Carroll--Drew Peterson's uncle--for mismanaging the Estate against the best interests of the Estate and its beneficiaries.
68. There were two autopsy reports concerning the death of Kathleen Savio. Both autopsy reports accurately reflected the condition of Savio. The second autopsy report--commissioned by the Savio family and FOX News--contains no physical information that is not found in the first report.
69. The first report--prepared in 2004--concluded that Kathleen Savio's death was accidental and the result of her slipping in her bathtub. The report noted that the water drained from the bathtub from the time of death to the time of discovery.
70. This report was presented to a Will County Coroner's Inquest. The Inquest was comprised of citizens of Will County, including a police officer who knew Drew Peterson and who told the other Inquest members that Peterson could not have killed Kathleen Savio.
71. In 2004, the Will County Coroner declared Kathleen Savio's death an accident.
72. Over the next 3 years and particularly after Stacy Cales' disappearance, enormous pressure was placed upon the Will County States Attorney and Coroner to reexamine the Kathleen Savio autopsy.
73. In November 2007, a Will County judge ordered the exhumation and reexamination of Kathleen Savio. The second report--costing $100,000 and paid by FOX television--concluded that Savio's death was a homicide.
74. When the second autopsy report was made public, Drew Peterson made the following statement to a television interviewed: "I'm ready to go to jail. Let them do it. Everything is in place. Bring it on. Let them do their thing. You roll the dice. I'll roll the dice."
75. On May 11, 2009, a Will County grand jury indicted Drew Peterson for 2 counts of first degree murder of Kathleen Savio. Note: Shouldn't this be May 7

67. On April 21, 2009, the family of Kathleen Savio filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Peterson seeking in excess of $100,000. The lawsuit also names as a defendant James Carroll--Drew Peterson's uncle--for mismanaging the Estate against the best interests of the Estate and its beneficiaries.
68. There were two autopsy reports concerning the death of Kathleen Savio. Both autopsy reports accurately reflected the condition of Savio. The second autopsy report--commissioned by the Savio family and FOX News--contains no physical information that is not found in the first report.
69. The first report--prepared in 2004--concluded that Kathleen Savio's death was accidental and the result of her slipping in her bathtub. The report noted that the water drained from the bathtub from the time of death to the time of discovery.
70. This report was presented to a Will County Coroner's Inquest. The Inquest was comprised of citizens of Will County, including a police officer who knew Drew Peterson and who told the other Inquest members that Peterson could not have killed Kathleen Savio.
71. In 2004, the Will County Coroner declared Kathleen Savio's death an accident.
72. Over the next 3 years and particularly after Stacy Cales' disappearance, enormous pressure was placed upon the Will County States Attorney and Coroner to reexamine the Kathleen Savio autopsy.
73. In November 2007, a Will County judge ordered the exhumation and reexamination of Kathleen Savio. The second report--costing $100,000 and paid by FOX television--concluded that Savio's death was a homicide.
74. When the second autopsy report was made public, Drew Peterson made the following statement to a television interviewed: "I'm ready to go to jail. Let them do it. Everything is in place. Bring it on. Let them do their thing. You roll the dice. I'll roll the dice."
75. On May 11, 2009, a Will County grand jury indicted Drew Peterson for 2 counts of first degree murder of Kathleen Savio. Note: Shouldn't this be May 7
